Windows Vista Service Pack 3
Windows Vista Service Pack 3 is an effortless way to have a fully updated Windows Vista installation.
Several hundred hotfixes and security updates have been released for Windows Vista since Service Pack 2 launched in 2009, which makes it very difficult to have a fully updated Windows Vista installation that has all available bug fixes and security patches. Service Pack 3 makes this easy by including all updated Windows components and installing them in one simple package. Like previous Service Packs, Service Pack 3 also contains new functionality and compatibility improvements to the operating system.
Service Pack 3 currently includes:
- All updates released since Service Pack 2, including the latest ESU security rollup
- Internet Explorer 9
- .NET Framework 4.6.2
- DirectX 9.0c Runtime
- Microsoft Camera Codec Pack
- Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0
- Windows Management Framework and Powershell 3.0
- DirectUI and DirectUser engines from Windows 7
- Microsoft generic USB 3 and NVMe drivers
- Updated icons and resources (including resources from Vize)
- Updated built-in fonts
- Enhanced branding resources (made by ImSwordKing)
- Calculator from Windows 7
- NotepadEx and SnippingToolEx by vxiiduu
- Fix to show theme names correctly in Appearance Settings
- Ultimate Extras
- Media Center TV Pack
Known Bugs:
- NVMe driver does not work when booting from UEFI (NVMe driver will not be included in public beta versions of Service Pack 3 until a fix is found)
- Windows Update Client from ESU Rollup does not install properly
Remember: These are not guaranteed and may never be added to Service Pack 3
Planned additions for Service Pack 3:
- TPM 2.0 Support
- Windows Imaging Component from Windows 8 (Adds support for JPEG XR Codec)
- Windows Animation Manager from Windows 8
- Updated Video and Audio decoders
- XPS Document API
- Other Accessories from Windows 7 (Paint, WordPad, On-Screen Keyboard)
